TASK SOFTSKILL SECTION 3

What is relative clauses, explain and find passage and determine its relative clauses

1. Definition of clause

Clause is a grammatical unit that has a level above and below the sentence phrases, form groups of at kurangnyaterdiri word on the subject and predicate, and has the potential to be a sentence (Kiridalaksana, 1993: 110). Is said to have the potential to be a sentence because although not a sentence, in many ways no different from the sentence clauses, except in the case of the absence of the final intonation or punctuation that characterize the sentence.
In construction consisting of S and P clauses can be accompanied by O, Pel, and Ket, or not. In this regard, the core element of the clause is S and P. However, in practice the elements of S are often omitted. For example in complex sentences (or rather sentences plural) and the sentence is the answer. (Ramlan 1987: 89).
For example:
Together with his wife, Mr. Salah brought souvenirs.

Sentence (1) consists of three clauses, ie clauses (a) together with his wife, clause (b) Mr. Salah came, and clause (c) bring souvenirs. Clause (a) consists of elements P, followed by Pel, clause (b) consists of S and P, and clause (c) consisting of P followed O. Due to the incorporation of the clause third, S in clause (a) and (c) dilesapkan ,

Characteristics clause

The characteristics of the clause is as follows: (1) there is a clause in the predicate, nothing more and nothing less; (2) clause may be subject to a sentence if her final intonation; (3) in the plural sentences, clauses are part of the sentence; (4) The clause can be expanded by adding attributes of functions that is not in the clause; besides the addition of constituent attributes on one or any existing syntactic functions.

Types of clauses

Clauses can be classified based on four issues, namely (1) the completeness of its internal elements: a complete clause and the clause is not complete, (2) presence or absence of words that negate P: clauses negative and positive clauses, (3) the predicate primary categories: verbal clauses and clauses nonverbal, (4) and the possibility of independence to be a sentence: an independent clause, clause incorporated.

Find the Definition of Subject, Verb, Object, Modifier and Find the Theory of Subject – Verb Agreements

Find Definition of Subject, Verb, Object and Modifier
  • Subject
The subject of a sentence is a noun, a person, place, thing, idea, or feeling.  The subject often, but not always, comes at the beginning of the sentence.  The subject can be more than one noun. The subject is always performing an action, doing something, being something, or feeling something. Subjects are always nouns or noun equivalents (pronouns, gerunds, certain infinitives, phrases made from these verbals, and noun clauses). The subject is the person, place, or thing that does or controls the action of the verb. It is the concept that answers the question who? or what? does or is in relation to the verb.
  • Verb
Verbs are action words.  Run and jump are verbs.  Some actions are more subtitle. Stay and wait are verbs.  Even to be is a verb.  Every sentence has at least one verb.  There can be more than one. A sentence can consist of nothing but a subject and a verb. The verb is most often defined as the word or words that express action or state of being. The trouble with this definition is that it is so broad that it is difficult to pin down just when a word expresses action" or "being." Verbals seem to express action, and even some nouns seem to convey a sense of action (the race, his answer, my worry, for example).
Maybe a better way to pin down the sentence verb is to find the word or words in the sentence that express action or state of being but also display some of the formal characteristics of verbs, those characteristics which have to do with the different spellings of the word in question, that is, the different forms of the word.
  • Object
A sentence can have more than one noun.  While a subject performs an action, an object is a noun that has action performed on it.  The object usually comes after the verb.  The following examples have a subject, then a verb, then an object.
  • Modifier
Another very common sentence element is modifiers.  Modifiers use adjectives or adverbs to describe, define, limit, or modify nouns or verbs.  A modifier can be a single word or a phrase. Modifiers are all of those adjective or adverb words, phrases, or clauses that change (modify) the meaning of other words, phrases or clauses. Although they take many forms, there are only two kinds of modifiers-adjective and adverb.

Example      :
  1. We are having a great time. ( Object )
  2. The people are friendly.  ( Subject )
  3. We really love cycling here. ( Verb )
  4. It’s great experience. ( Complement )
  5. We’re on a paddy-fields. ( Adverb )
  6. We love this place. ( Object )
  7. The view is gorgeous. ( Complement )
Find the Theory of Subject – Verb Agreements
Subject - verb agreement just means using the right version of the verb to agree with the subject. For the examples :

If you use the term "verb conjugation," your mates will probably think you're bit of brainbox, but it just means "how verbs change to agree with their subjects."

It's really simple. If you're a native English speaker, you'll naturally ensure your verbs agree with their subjects (i.e., conjugate correctly).

Example      :
  • My dog always runs at the home.
  • Basketballs roll across the floor.
  • I don’t understand the assignment.
  • These clothes are too small for me.
  • Peter doesn’t like vegetables

The building inhabited many different faculties in different not right so we as students become more familiar with many people and so the more friends we know want it from faculty computers, economics, psychologists and others, and we can know what is learned from their faculty or department faculty them and we all could share knowledge even if it is different in our respective courses.

A system of credits package so we finished each semester and each student is no different never all get the same credits when viewed in other campus systems may be different if other campus students is high GPA can get more credits and can pass quickly but in his system different campuses all students equated so nothing is passed or completed credits first or completed first.

The UM System is helping students to enhance student GPA with no wear short semester system like other campus systems are very efficient and do not bother us as students to improve the value is not very good, but not most of the students wanted to like this, but the system is very help students who score very low or no good for value problem.

June 15, 2008

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing today to complain of the poor service I received from your company on June 12, 2008. I was visited by a representative of That Awful Company, Mr. Madman, at my home on that day.
Mr. Madman was one hour late for his appointment and offered nothing by way of apology when he arrived at noon. Your representative did not remove his muddy shoes upon entering my house, and consequently left a trail of dirt in the hallway. Mr. Madman then proceeded to present a range of products to me that I had specifically told his assistant by telephone I was not interested in. I repeatedly tried to ask your representative about the products that were of interest to me, but he refused to deal with my questions. We ended our meeting after 25 minutes without either of us having accomplished anything.
I am most annoyed that I wasted a morning (and half a day's vacation) waiting for Mr. Madman to show up. My impression of That Awful Company has been tarnished, and I am now concerned about how my existing business is being managed by your firm. Furthermore, Mr. Madman's inability to remove his muddy shoes has meant that I have had to engage the services, and incur the expense, of a professional carpet cleaner.
I trust this is not the way That Awful Company wishes to conduct business with valued customers—I have been with you since the company was founded and have never encountered such treatment before. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss matters further and to learn of how you propose to prevent a similar situation from recurring. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,

V. Angry

TO:                  Senior Management Team
FROM:
RE:                  Developing a Smart Paper Plan
DATE:

I’m writing to let you know that we will soon launch an effort to devise and implement a company-wide “Smart Paper Plan.” As you might know, we use several tons of paper a year in the office. That’s perfectly normal for an office our size; by one estimate, an average office employee creates approximately 350 pounds of wastepaper a year. But by carefully marshaling our resources, we should be able to reduce that amount significantly, helping the environment while helping our own bottom line.

The core components of our Smart Paper Plan will be:

ü  Conserving paper, by relying on email distribution, using half-sheet fax cover sheets, using both sides of a sheet of paper, and other means.
ü  Recycling paper, by redoubling our efforts to make sure we capture every scrap of recyclable paper.
ü  Purchasing ecologically superior paper, made with significant postconsumer recycled content and other important environmental attributes.

We’ll begin the effort by creating a Smart Paper Team that includes representatives of the various departments. The team will lead a company-wide diagnosis of our current paper practices and develop a draft Smart Paper Plan, complete with specific recommendations, for consideration by senior management. We will together review the plan, make any changes, additions, or deletions, and then begin implementation.

This is an important effort to the company, not just because it will save us money, but because it can make an important contribution to the environment. The production of paper takes an enormous environmental toll, significantly reducing forests, emitting toxic pollution from production processes, and creating a great quantity of paper products in landfills. By reducing our own contribution to these environmental problems, we can be better corporate citizens.

I believe it will also offer us important employee morale and public relations benefits as well. I hope that as we devise and implement the plan we will be able to foster a top-to-bottom commitment to smart paper practices, and that we will all be proud of the contribution the plan will make to the environment. Of course, once we have developed and implemented a plan that we can be truly proud of, I expect we will be eager to brag a little to our customers about the plan.

In short, I hope our efforts to devise and implement a Smart Paper Plan will be helpful to us on many fronts. I hope you’ll join in this effort enthusiastically. Thanks very much
